Message Board

  • -Please come look through the Lost and Found which is displayed in the front foyer to retrieve items that your child may have lost during the winter months.  We have quite the collection!
-As the spring comes into bloom, please remember that the children will be outside daily.  Appropriate clothing and shoes are a must!
-Any changes to your child's dismissal must be made in writing before 2:00 pm.  It is most preferable for you to send in a note at the beginning of the day.
-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  Our library is in need of volunteer help!  If you have a few extra hours a week (or even a month) we could use your help reshelving books and helping children check out books.  Please contact Sophie Blavet at for more information.

Welcome to Mountain Way School

A Welcome Message from the Principal
*Where the stars of tomorrow shine brightly today*
Mountain Way School is an early childhood learning community serving the needs of Morris Plains’ children in preschool through second grade. Our school philosophy embraces each child entering school and recognizes his or her unique needs, abilities, aptitudes, and interests. A creative, caring, and competent professional staff encourages every child to learn, grow, and flourish within a challenging yet supportive environment. Children develop positive self-esteem coupled with a love for learning, acquisition of knowledge, and problem solving skills.  We look forward to partnering with you through your child's early school experience.  For more information about out school or programs, please contact Lindsay Vieira, Principal at 973-538-0339 x1 or

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Once again, Morris Plains is pleased to offer in-district tuitioned preschool classes for Morris Plains residents who are three or four years old. This exciting preschool program uses a multi-sensory approach to teach three and four year old students and prepare them for Kindergarten at Mountain Way.  Students benefit from a language based program, which allows for learning and discovery through play. The nurturing classroom atmosphere both excites and encourages our young students.  The program offers access to cutting edge technology, including iPads, interactive whiteboards and a Redcat sound system.  Of course, traditional preschool activities such as songs, movement, and gross motor activities are used to grab the attention of our young learners.  Students also develop their problem solving skills through our daily math and science activities.  Finally, students participate in gym, library, art, and music classes weekly.

Our inclusive preschool program includes both children with specific learning needs and typically developing children who have no identified needs.   Inclusive education seeks to provide meaningful education to the range of students in our communities by drawing strength from their diversity.

We have made our acceptances for the 2014-2015 Preschool class.  However, you may still complete and submit an application and we will notify you should more spots become available.

For registration information, fees, and forms, please contact Cristie Bruhn at or 973-538-0339 x 1.  If we have more applicants than space allows, a lottery will be conducted to determine acceptance.  If space allows, out of district residents may be eligible for a slightly increased fee.
